New Zealand Falcon

New Zealand’s only native falcon, these magnificent birds can fly at speeds of more than 60 mph. They nest on the ground in cleared forests, which can make them vulnerable to predators. New Zealand falcons' Conservation Status is Nationally Vulnerable, however plantation forests including ours have provided habitat for a healthy falcon population. Their diet includes birds (including some larger than themselves), mammals, insects and lizards.
